ARPA appoints new area heads

ARPA Abogados y Consultores has announced the appointment of two new area heads: Sonia Olóriz and Fernando Carretero, who will be responsible for the Family Business and Renewable Energies teams respectively, as well as the promotion of San Sebastián office head María González to associate

Olóriz holds a degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Tax Consultancy from Universidad de Navarra. She began her professional career in 1999 at the professional firm BDR Consultores Tributarios y Empresariales, where she became head of department. She joined the ARPA team in 2020 and has more than two decades of experience in recurring Tax advice in the field of direct and indirect taxation, business restructuring and succession tax planning.

According to the firm, Family Business is an area within ARPA that “requires a global vision of the company and at the same time a special one due to its family component. It is important to have prior experience in taxation of individuals and companies as well as their interaction with other areas of law in order to provide added and comprehensive value in each succession process.”

Carretero holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a double Master’s degree in Access to the Legal Profession and Business Law from Universidad de Navarra. He has developed his professional career mainly in the field of Public Law and Regulated sectors. After working for different law firms, such as Linklaters or Osborne Clarke, he joined ARPA in 2021 as a lawyer in the Administrative Law department. He specialises in providing legal advice to national and foreign entities operating in sectors with a large regulatory component. For years, he has been advising companies and other players in the energy sector, particularly in the field of renewable energies and decarbonisation. He also has extensive experience in Administrative and Litigation proceedings.

María González, ARPA’s new associate, was appointed head of the San Sebastián office in 2020 and is responsible for the Competition Law department. She holds a degree in Law from the Universidad del País Vasco and an LLM in International and Comparative Law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) and a postgraduate specialisation in Civil Litigation from Universitat Pompeu Fabra-IDEC. She began her professional career at the Brussels office of Cuatrecasasas and continued at the firm´s Barcelona office. After ten years of experience, she joined ARPA Lawyers Consultants in 2015. She specialises in advising companies both nationally and internationally on competition law, as well as civil and commercial contracts.
