Allen & Overy Spain, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer España, Latham & Watkins España, Linklaters Spain, Baker McKenzie España, Garrigues España (Global), Cuatrecasas España (Global), Gómez-Acebo & Pombo España (Global), Herbert Smith Freehills Spain and CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo are the top ten law firms by the amount in TTR’s M&A Legal ranking in Spain. Allen & Overy Spain leads, with €10,399 million; and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Spain follows with €5,739 million.

On the other hand, by the number of transactions in the legal area, M&A advisory in the Renewable Energy industry in Spain is led in 2022 by Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Spain, with 16 transactions, followed by Garrigues Spain, with 12 transactions.

Data compiled by TTR shows that Spain’s renewable energy sector experienced a 64% increase in 2021. The volume of M&A transactions in Spain’s energy sector grew steadily over the past four years, before declining sharply in 2022, according to data at the end of 3Q22, while the aggregate value remained relatively stable.

“M&A in the global renewables industry is at an important juncture in history: while a considerable acceleration is seen in 2021, there is still an atmosphere of some caution among investors in 2022 due to political and structural signals from the region’s major economies that directly affect the Iberian market,” states TTR’s report.
