Polo (Madrid, 1960), was chief prosecutor of Madrid between 2013 and 2018 and subsequently of the Audiencia Nacional between 2018 and 2019. He holds a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and joined the Public Prosecutor’s Office in 1985. As a prosecutor he has worked in Malaga, Toledo, Madrid and at the Audiencia Nacional.
On leave of absence as a Public Prosecutor since 2019, he has practised law at the prestigious law firm of De Carlos Remón.
Likewise, José Javier Polo is a lecturer in different postgraduate Master´s degrees. He has given numerous lectures and teaching interventions, among others, at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (School of Legal Practice), Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB), the Higher Institute of Law and Economics, the Ramón Areces Foundation and the Centre for Legal Studies, among other prestigious institutions.
