W&C launches Commercial Litigation practice in Madrid with Francisco Málaga as a partner

White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Commercial Litigation Practice into Spain with the addition of former Linklaters Dispute Resolution head in Spain, Francisco Málaga, as a partner in Madrid, along with five lawyers from his team

“The launch of our commercial litigation practice in Madrid with the addition of Francisco is an important step as we continue to strengthen our global capabilities,” said White & Case partner Glenn Kurtz, head of the Global Commercial Litigation Practice. “The focus of our practice in Madrid will be high-profile litigation for corporates and financial institutions, working closely with Madrid international arbitration counsel Ignacio Madalena and our offices globally to advise clients on their most complex disputes.”

Francisco advises corporates and financial institutions on a wide range of litigation matters. He also has experience advising on compliance, investigations and anti-money laundering, as well as collective redress and arbitration. Francisco joins White & Case from Linklaters, where he was a partner and headed the Magic Circle´s firm Litigation and Insolvency Law Department (Dispute Resolution) in Spain.

Along with Francisco Málaga, five other lawyers join White & Case. Marcos Soberón as a partner, and Renata Madariaga, Javier García-Bermejo, Eloy Algorri and Ainhoa Busto, all as associates.

Marcos Soberón is a Law graduate from the University of Cantabria, Marcos Soberón holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from Centro de Estudios Garrigues and has taken courses at Georgetown University and Harvard University. He has 12 years of professional experience at Linklaters, where he was promoted to managing associate in 2018.

Renata Madariaga joins White & Case as an associate from Linklaters, where she has been for more than three years. Before joining Linklaters, she started her professional career as a lawyer at Uría Menéndez, where she worked for three years.

She is a Law and International Relations graduate from Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE, and she holds a Master’s degree IE-UM Professional Development Program For Lawyers from IE Business School.

After more than seven years working at Linklaters, Javier García-Bermejo Hidalgo joins White & Case as an associate. He is a Law & Economics graduate and holds a Master’s degree in Access to the Legal Profession from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

Eloy Algorri is a Law and Business Administration graduate from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla and holds a Master’s degree in Business Law and Access to the Spanish Bar from IE Law School. He also joins W&C from Linklaters, where he has been working since 2017 in the Dispute Resolution department.

Ainhoa Busto is a Law graduate from the IE Law School and holds a dual Master´s degree in Access to the Legal Profession and European Law from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. She gained experience at law firms such as Pérez-Llorca and Clifford Chance and joined Linklaters first as a trainee (2018, 2018)and later as a lawyer. Before joining White & Case, she was a junior associate in the Dispute Resolution of the law firm.
