Leading the table is Armando Albarrán (Freshfields), followed by Francisco León (Pérez-Llorca). The third position is shared by Augusto Piñel (GA_P), Artur L. Badra, Blanca Puyol Martínez-Ferrando, and Luis Riesgo from Jones Day. Íñigo del Val (Allen & Overy) is ranked fourth, and José María Alonso (Latham & Watkins) is the fifth top legal advisor, according to TTR’s YTD report

With four deals for a total value of €25.54 billion, Armando Albarrán, Corporate and M&A partner and head of this practice at Freshfields, is the number one of TTR’s YTD Legal Advisors ranking, gaining ground from the fourth place that he held in the same period last year. He is followed by Pérez-Llorca of counsel Francisco León (32nd position in 2021), who registers six transactions for a total value of €19.4 billion.

Sharing the third position is Augusto Piñel, Corporate M&A partner at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, Jones Day of counsel Artur L. Badra and Blanca Puyol Martínez-Ferrando, and partner-in-charge Spain/Latin America Region and São Paulo office Luis Riesgo, all with a single deal valued at €18.6 billion.

Íñigo del Val, Allen & Overy Madrid office partner, who led this table in the same period last year, holds the fourth position -second by the number of deals- with seven transactions worth €13.2 billion. At a significant distance, Latham & Watkins counsel José María Alonso is the number five, with three deals for a total value of €4.9 billion. Uría Menéndez Madrid office Corporate and Commercial partner and co-head of M&A and Private Equity Practice area Manuel Echenique is in the sixth position, with 13 deals registered for a total value of €4.8 billion.

The second woman we find at this table is Teresa Méndez, counsel at Allen & Overy, who also shared the first position in the same period of 2021, and now holds the seventh place on this YTD table, with three deals worth €4.6 billion. She is followed by her colleague at Allen & Overy partner Fernando Torrente, who also registered three deals for a total value of €4 billion.

Herbert Smith Freehills Madrid office of counsel Esther Lumbreras Sancho is the third woman that we find in this ‘top ten’ ranking. She registered two deals worth €2.9 billion. Alejandro Ortiz, still registered in this table as Linklaters Spain partner, is in the tenth position with eight deals for a total value of €2.8 billion.
