Simmons & Simmons adds Insurance partner from Kennedys

Simmons & Simmons' Insurance team in Madrid has strengthened its Insurance team with the incorporation of Olivia Delagrange, who joins from Kennedys, as a partner

-

With an in-depth knowledge of the Insurance sector, having worked with leading firms for two decades in a variety of sectors, including property, construction, energy, product liability, maritime and aviation, the lawyer comes from Kennedys Law LLP and is admitted in three jurisdictions (Spain, England and Wales, and Belgium).

Delagrange’s arrival as a partner will enable the firm to expand its insurance practice in Spain, which offers one of the largest insurance legal markets in the world. It also contributes to Simmons’ growing international insurance offering following the arrival of Jonathan Thorpe as a partner in April in the firm’s London office.

James Pollock, head of the firm’s international insurance and construction group in London, commented: “We are delighted to have recruited Olivia as a partner. Very few in the industry can match her combination of highly specialised advice, strong reputation among clients and impressive commercial acumen.” The firm’s growing international insurance practice will benefit from her ability to generate business in multiple markets.”

Eduardo Peñacoba, partner and country head of the firm in Spain, said: “The addition of this new partner is in line with the firm’s ambition to develop our insurance capabilities in Spain, which will help meet the demands of an expanding market. Olivia is very knowledgeable about the sector and will be a great asset to our Madrid office as we look to continue to expand our client base and take the firm’s insurance practice, which also recently welcomed Francisco de León, to the next level”.

Commenting on joining Simmons & Simmons, Olivia Delagrange said: “Simmons & Simmons is ideally placed to exploit the growing opportunities in the legal insurance markets, both in Spain and internationally. There is a growing demand in today’s market for highly specialised legal advice, and I am confident that my industry experience and client base will enable the firm to strengthen its existing insurance offering.
