According to AutoRevista, Víctor Manuel Sánchez has been appointed General Counsel and Director of Legal Services and Corporate Governance of the SEAT Group companies in Spain, a responsibility he will carry out from SEAT S.A. as head of the Volkswagen Group in the country. Sánchez will report to SEAT S.A. CEO Wayne Griffiths and succeeds Thomas Meiers and Marco Cortinovis.
SEAT appoints Víctor Manuel Sánchez as General Counsel and Director of Legal Services and Corporate Governance. The new general counsel has joined SEAT from the international law firm Cuatrecasas, where until now, he was a partner in the Litigation and Arbitration area, representing national and international clients in multi-jurisdictional proceedings. During his time at Cuatrecasas, Sánchez has advised and represented SEAT S.A. and the Volkswagen Group in various matters, including the design and implementation of the defence strategy in legal proceedings, and the contractual agreements relating to the Future: Fast Forward project, the €10 billion investment plan for the electrification of Spain.
“The addition of Victor Manuel Sanchez to SEAT S.A. is good news,” explained Wayne Griffiths. “Victor Manuel is a highly qualified lawyer and knows the automotive sector, SEAT S.A. and the Volkswagen Group very well. He will assume very relevant functions and will report directly to me in order to work together in the transformation stage we are going through”.
A specialist in large-scale litigation and class actions, Sánchez brings more than two decades of professional and academic experience. After studying law (2001) and business administration (2003) at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, in 2004, he obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Manchester, in conjunction with the University of Hamburg.
Sánchez has developed his professional career at Cuatrecasas, where he joined in 2006, and practised as an associate before his promotion to partner in 2018. He has also worked as an associate professor in the Civil Law department at Pompeu Fabra University and, between 2012 and 2013, as a foreign lawyer at Pinheiro Neto Advogados in São Paulo (Brazil).
