Pinsent Masons, HSF advise on Peninsula Capital´s acquisition of Grupo Maya

Pinsent Masons has advised Grupo MYA on its sale to pan-European private equity firm Peninsula Capital, represented by Herbert Smith Freehills

-

Peninsula Capital, a pan-European private equity firm with offices in London, Milan and Madrid, is strongly committed to aesthetic surgery and medicine. The fund has sealed an agreement to acquire Grupo MYA with the aim of growing in the premium segment of the sector.

The operation is channelled through WoW Aesthetics, an umbrella that also includes Peninsula’s investment in the Dorsia, Eva and Origen clinics, among others. José Luis Martín del Yerro and Moisés Amselem, founders of Grupo MYA, will continue to lead the business and will maintain a significant shareholding in the company.

The acquired company carries out its activity mainly in its medical centre and in two hospitals in Madrid, where it has the support of more than fifty professionals in the field of medicine and cosmetic surgery. Grupo MYA closed last year with a turnover of around €9 million, having performed more than 1,200 surgical interventions and 2,800 medical-aesthetic treatments.

“Amselem is the ideal platform to become the leader in aesthetic medicine and surgery in the premium segment. The current management team, led by Víctor Sanz and Mercedes Mora as CEO and CFO, together with the support of Peninsula Capital and the founders, have drawn up an ambitious business plan for the coming years that will pivot above all on organic and inorganic growth derived from the growing demand that the sector is experiencing, as well as the opportunity to consolidate the premium segment of cosmetic surgery and medicine in Spain,” commented Peninsula Capital in a statememt to Expansión.

Pinsent Masons advised Grupo MYA with a team made up of partner Francisco Aldavero and lawyer Juan Hernández-Canut.
