Founded in 1998 in Portugal, Mercurius Health is a specialized radiotherapy and nuclear medicine service provider to clinics, hospitals, and OEMs. Mercurius is focused on delivering a wide array of services which include radiation oncology turnkey solutions, consultancy services, technical cooperation, remote planning, and training. The company employs more than 100 technical staff (doctors, physicists, dosimetrists and technologists), operating in 4 different countries with 12 radiotherapy and nuclear medicine projects currently in progress.
In August 2020, Nexxus Iberia acquired a controlling stake in Mercurius alongside a group of professionals with large experience in the sector to build an international radiotherapy services platform. With the active support of Nexxus Iberia and under the management of John Allen, Mercurius has been focused on implementing turnkey radiotherapy solutions for hospitals and clinics to offer cutting-edge treatments, which has allowed it to expand from Portugal into Spain and Germany. The company has executed two long-term projects: i) the installation of a ZAP-X machine in La Paloma’s hospital in Madrid through a JV with Viamed and IRCA, which offers the latest technology to treat head and neck tumours; and ii) the installation of a Halcyon machine in SAMS hospital in Lisbon. Mercurius also has completed the acquisition of the Robert Janker Klinic, Bonn, which is specialized in radiotherapy and radiology which, marks its first project in Germany. In addition, the digitalization of the company has been driven by developing a proprietary Remote Planning tool (Mercurius Connect) for radiotherapy services and the implementation of business intelligence systems.
