Bettermaps has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) system that allows anyone to design and generate digital cartography. Bettermaps AI is constantly fed with up-to-date geospatial information from thousands of open data sources. In order to boost its growth and expansion, Bettermaps has closed a €200,000 pre-seed investment round led by leading national Business Angels.
Bettermaps provides no-code solutions oriented to the creation of digital maps for private use and their implementation in web solutions using the latest developments in AI. In a matter of seconds, Bettermaps can generate high-quality digital cartography with a high degree of accuracy and detail. Moreover, it has already surpassed the 10,000 active users barrier.
ONTIER has led the negotiation of various private agreements and prepared the corporate documentation related to the new investors. ONTIER’s team has focused, above all, on protecting the interests of Bettermaps and its founder as a key part of the project.
The lawyers from ONTIER’s Oviedo office, Pelayo García-Bernardo and Nacho Arce, from the Corporate and M&A team, and Daniel Gutiérrez, Director of the Innovation and Digital Law Area, have led the advice to Bettermaps and state that “working with Pablo on a project with as much present and future as Bettermaps is proof of ONTIER’s positioning not only in qualified rounds but also in the earliest stages of startups in the tech scene in general and AI in particular. For us it is essential that young entrepreneurs feel supported in the world of Venture Capital and benefit from our experience in the sector.”
The round will be used for the growth of the Asturian startup, in the words of Pablo Viejo (CEO and founder of Bettermaps): “We are excited to have closed this round of funding and to have the support of experienced investors.
