The risk consultancy and insurance brokerage firm Marsh has appointed Rafael Fontana as chairman of its Advisory Board, as part of the rotation process established by this body of the company, previously formed by Juan Arena and Claudio Aguirre.
Rafael Fontana, senior partner of Cuatrecasas since 2014 was previously managing partner for over 20 years, having joined the firm’s Tax practice as a lawyer in 1983. He is an expert in family business group planning, as well as in advising on Tax matters and on Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures of national and international business groups. He led the Cuatrecasas international expansion process, including the opening of offices in Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, and the consolidation of a European alliance with leading firms in France (Gide), Italy (Chiomenti) and Germany (Gleiss Lutz).
Over the course of his outstanding career, he has advised on and designed the strategic planning of some of Spain’s and Portugal’s most significant transactions.
In addition to his role as senior partner of Cuatrecasas, he is an active player in Spain’s business arena. He has been a member of the Boards of Directors and of the advisory committees of many companies. He is also a member of several forums, and business and institutional associations, as well as of the boards of trustees of foundations.
