With these internal promotions, the firm now has 20 partners, seven of whom are women. The appointment of these two new partners in the firm responds to the firm’s commitment to internal talent, as well as to the growth experienced by these departments in recent years.
Yolanda Martínez joined Marimón Abogados in September 2018 and since then has worked closely with Diego Crespo, partner of the Competition Law department in Madrid. The promotion of Yolanda Martínez to partner will strengthen this practice, which has become increasingly important within its structure and has one of the strongest teams in the sector.
Yolanda Martínez is a specialist in European Union and Competition Law, as well as in contentious-administrative litigation. She has developed her professional career advising companies, associations, and administrations, both in Spanish and European jurisdictions. She has experience in areas as diverse as e-commerce, tourism regulation, pharmaceuticals, food, mass consumption and regulated sectors.
Álvaro Crespo joined the firm in 2014. The lawyer has become a partner in the Barcelona office’s Tax Law department alongside Gonzalo González, with whom he has worked side by side until now. Marimón Abogados now has three partners in the Tax Law department, two in Barcelona and one in Madrid.
Álvaro Crespo will strengthen the tax department by bringing his extensive experience in advising multinational groups and family businesses and in restructuring operations, tax planning of large estates and tax planning of investments in Spain. He has also advised on international trade and VAT matters, corporate finance and start-ups.
The firm has also appointed Lidia Bazán, until now a director in the Tax Law department, as counsel to the firm in recognition of her career dating back to 2011.
Lidia Bazán is an expert in corporate restructuring, economic and contentious-administrative proceedings, as well as succession planning. With this appointment, she will lead the growth strategy of the tax department in the Madrid office, together with Santiago Díez, with whom she has been working for more than 25 years.
