Globally, the law firm has elected new partners from 11 different practice areas and across 12 jurisdictions. Of the new elections, 59% are based outside of the UK, reflecting the global nature of the firm. The new promotions take effect on 1st May 2022. Esteban Arza until now Corporate counsel, has been appointed partner along with Gabriel Cabello, Real Estate partner from now on, and Pablo Medina, new Capital Markets partner.
Esteban is an M&A partner based in Madrid who has more than 15 years of experience on some of the country’s most high-profile and complex M&A transactions in recent times. He has worked for some of the firm’s largest clients in their transactions in Spain. He regularly advises clients (notably international PE houses and other financial sponsors) on their investments, including bilateral deals and auction processes, public M&A, Mergers, Corporate Reorganisations, and business combinations. He also provides Spanish-listed companies and investors regular advice on corporate governance matters. Esteban brings a commercial and hands-on approach to negotiations, looking for pragmatic and creative solutions to complex issues. He provides strategic guidance to support commercial decisions in all M&A-related work streams. He is used to lead internal teams and handling large groups of advisors in cross-border deals.
Gabriel Cabello has experience advising large international real estate funds on the acquisition of portfolios of both repossessed properties (REOs) and non-performing loans (NPLs) and drafting and negotiating servicing agreements for both REOs and NPLs. Gabriel also has extensive experience in urban planning, administrative proceedings for the granting of construction permits, and drafting and negotiation of all types of construction agreements in relation to shopping centres, office buildings, logistical warehouses, and hotels. He was recently selected by Legal Dealmaker as one of the Top 50 RE Dealmakers in Spain.
Pablo Medina was until now counsel of the Capital Markets area of Linklaters, where he joined in 2006. He was seconded to the New York office, where he worked in the Capital Markets and Banking team, mainly involved in operations in Latin America and Spanish companies in the US. Pablo Medina has extensive experience in equity market transactions (IPOs, capital increases, and accelerated placements), equity-linked (convertible and exchangeable bonds), and international and domestic debt issues and hybrid instruments, advising listed companies, funds, and investment banks. He also advises on M&A transactions and Restructurings and is an expert in Corporate Governance. Pablo works on a recurring basis in the London office and has extensive experience in Latin American transactions.
