Top Transactional Senior Lawyers in Spain
Paving the Road to Partnersip
At Legal Dealmaker, we understand there is no secret formula, and each law firm has its particular policy, structure and idiosyncrasy when it comes to appointing partners, something that Legal Dealmaker deeply respects. But we also intuitively sense that the old times of the traditional model, when law firms promoted senior lawyers to partner based on experience and a certain number of years at the firm, has welcomed a new set of standards, that do not always go hand in hand with time: technical skills, soft skills, commercial know-how, leadership, commitment, recognition, even personality, and promotions are in many cases seen outside the firm with or after a lateral hire.
Legal Dealmaker has selected a list of more than 20 transactional senior lawyers presented in alphabetical order that, in our editorial opinion, and after researching the Legal market in Spain with the help of reliable sources, might be the next partners of Big Law in Spain. All of them have something in common: with very solid backgrounds, they are already leading dealmakers that have learnt the best from their partners and, some of them represent their firm as lead counsel in many complex and even cross-border deals.
The list is focused on transactional lawyers (Corporate, M&A, Finance, Project Finance, Private Equity, Real Estate, Capital Markets…) excluding other practice areas that are equally relevant to close deals (Labour, Litigation, Tax, Competition…), aware that other lawyers that excel on those areas will also have a seat on their firm´s partnership.
Convinced that many of the senior lawyers included on this list will be included in the next two rounds of global promotions, we are well aware that there are many other senior associates, counsel, directors… that are not on this list and will get their well-deserved promotion to partner, but Legal Dealmaker has limited its editorial selection to the senior lawyers that we think are going to -or should be in our editorial opinion- shortly considered for promotion. We will have to wait and see if our forecast comes true. These are our bets, now, make yours!
