Fieldfisher has hired Rafael Sánchez Sevilla as a partner to lead the Criminal and Compliance area in Spain

-

Sánchez Sevilla has been working for more than 20 years as a lawyer specialising in the field of Economic and Corporate Criminal Law; and for more than a decade, in the areas of Criminal Compliance, Anti-Bribery Systems, Whistleblower Channels and Internal Investigations. Fieldfisher’s new partner joins the firm from Sánchez Sevilla Defensa Penal & Compliance (since 2012) -a firm that has been associated with Prime Legal Abogados since 2021-, and previously worked at Garrigues, Pintó Ruiz & Del Valle and Martell Abogados, in the Criminal Law areas.

Throughout his professional career, Sánchez Sevilla has had the opportunity to work in various business sectors, such as real estate development and investment, public works, the health and care sector, foundations and associations, schools, ports and sports federations, logistics, technology, etc., providing legal defence services, legal-criminal advice and regulatory compliance, both to individuals and to SMEs and large companies, as well as to the members of their governing bodies, senior management and middle management.

Speaker, professor and active member of the main professional associations in the field of Criminal Law and Compliance, Sánchez Sevilla opens this new stage in Fieldfisher with the aim of “reinforcing the excellent service already provided by the firm in both areas” and “helping organisations to incorporate the ethical culture of compliance in their organisational and functional structures, in order to adapt, in a faster and easier way, to the increasingly demanding regulations on Compliance, Anti-Corruption, Whistleblowing and Internal Investigations.”

Fieldfisher president and partner Jordi Ruiz de Villa, highlights that “Rafael combines perfectly the experience in compliance projects for large and medium-sized companies with a long experience in economic crime and cybercrime, which will allow the promotion of an area that already has a team of two people in Barcelona and that we hope to replicate in the Madrid office before the summer.” From the firm´s strategy point of view, Ruiz de Villa assures : “we believe it is necessary to be able to provide a comprehensive Compliance service that combines a Criminal, Data Protection, Tax and Antitrust perspective, so we are creating multidisciplinary teams with real specialists in each area.”
