KWM promotes five to counsel

King & Wood Mallesons has announced the appointment of five new counsels in Spain: Alberto Artés (Energy and Infrastructure), María de Orueta (Investment Funds), Candela Escribano (Real Estate), José Carlos Fraga (Litigation) and Félix Hernández (Finance and Banking)

Alberto Artés has a deep knowledge of regulated activities, particularly in all Energy sectors, including electricity, gas and renewables. Throughout his professional career he has repeatedly advised, both in transactional and regulatory matters, some of the main energy operators in the Iberian Peninsula, as well as several international investors.

María de Orueta specialises in structuring and setting up national and international investment Funds (private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, real estate funds, mezzanine, funds of funds, etc.), secondary transactions, co-investment plans and other transactions related to the private equity sector, such as fund restructurings or the creation of special purpose vehicles.

Candela Escribano is a lawyer in the Real Estate team at KWM Spain. Her practice covers all matters related to the real estate sector, including the sale and acquisition of real estate assets (shopping centres, office buildings, logistics parks, hotels, student residences, residential developments, etc.); property leasing; real estate sale & lease back; real estate project finance; construction contracts; horizontal property issues and real estate complexes.

José Carlos Fraga specialises mainly in Criminal and Civil Litigation, as well as national and international Arbitration. Throughout his career he has specialised in pre-trial defence and advice in particularly complex litigation and arbitration involving different jurisdictions, with particular emphasis on his practice in legal proceedings related to the banking, energy, real estate and investment fund sectors.

Félix Hernández specialises in advising all types of entities on the structuring and implementation of sophisticated Financing transactions, including, among others, acquisition finance, real estate finance, restructurings and corporate financings, both domestic and multi-jurisdictional. Of particular note is his experience in private equity related financings.
