KWM launches New Technologies & IP area, adds counsel

King & Wood Mallesons - Spain has launched a new department specialised in New Technologies and IP that will be led by counsel Samuel Martínez

To lead the project, KWM has incorporated Samuel Martínez, a renowned lawyer with more than 15 years of experience in these practice areas and with in-depth knowledge of the implementation of new technologies in financial services (Fintech / InsurTech).

Samuel specialises in legal advice related to innovative data-driven solutions and services using IoT devices and cloud platforms. He has extensive experience in the technology, media, telecommunications, digital health, retail, consumer, foodtech and financial services sectors.

Carlos Pazos, managing partner at KWM in Spain, highlights that “with this practice, KWM responds to one of the current needs of the market: advice on the implementation of new technologies and the challenges that in many cases this implies in the most traditional sectors”. In relation with the incorporation of Samuel, Carlos highlights that “Samuel has an outstanding career in IT and Fintech. He has worked on important projects internationally, and his way of working and professional values are perfectly suited to KWM.”
