Repsol will be the advisor to a Venture Capital fund, which has just been registered with the CNMV by Portobello Capital to invest in projects aimed at reforestation and decarbonisation of the planet.
The fund is part of the agreement that Portobello established last year with Indosuez, the private banking arm of Crédit Agricole. In 2019, they created a co-investment vehicle and now they are extending the alliance to renewables, incorporating Repsol for social impact funds. This is how it appears in the venture capital company created by the three parties, which has just been approved by the CNMV.
The fund will have a size of around €50 million, and the objective is to take “temporary stakes in companies whose corporate purpose and main activity is to invest in reforestation projects for the generation of CO2 absorption projects, the purchase and sale of CO2 credits on the voluntary market, on land identified as suitable for the planting of forests that absorb CO2, in order to generate CO2 absorption projects that can be marketed”, according to the prospectus sent to the CNMV. The investment period will be a maximum of five years and the invested companies will be located in Spain and Portugal.
KWM´s Funds team was formed by partner Ildefonso Alier, along with associate Arie Scharf.
