Alexander Salvador, Digital Law manager at EY Barcelona, has been elected as the new president of the Young Lawyers Group of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB). Salvador takes over from Albert Jané, who has been at the head of the GAJ Barcelona for the last two years.

Alexander Salvador stressed that “it is an honour and at the same time an exciting challenge to represent the young lawyers of Barcelona in all forums” and thanked in particular the leadership of the previous president, Albert Jané, together with the work of all the members who have made up the executive committee of the GAJ Barcelona, especially considering that they have had to face an exceptional situation such as the pandemic and the change of social, economic and employment paradigm that this has generated.

The new president of the Barcelona Young Lawyers’ Association explained that the main objectives during his mandate are the democratisation of training, strengthening the voice and presence of young lawyers in civil society, as well as promoting the debate of ideas as a tool for transforming the profession. “This is the time for young people to debate and decide what the legal profession should be like in the coming years, as it will be our responsibility to implement these changes in the immediate future,” said Salvador.

Alexander Salvador has been a member of the ICAB since 2016 and is a lawyer specialising mainly in Digital Law. Since his professional beginnings he has been linked to the Barcelona Bar, having previously held the positions of secretary and vice-president of the Young Lawyers’ Group of Barcelona. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the journal Món Jurídic, published by the ICAB. Salvador has spent most of his career in the field of Digital Law at international law firms. He holds a degree in Law from Universidad Pompeu Fabra , and a Master’s degree in Law from the BSM-UPF, as well as a Master’s degree in Intellectual and Industrial Property from the ICAB and another in Digital Law and New Technologies from the Universidad de Salamanca.
