Since January 1, Rafael Fernández, counsel at Pérez-Llorca, is the new officer of the Insurance Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA). The term will last until the end of next year.
The law firm points out that he will be the first Spaniard to sit on this committee, where he will collaborate with lawyers from other firms specialising in Insurance and Reinsurance in the United States, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland, and Denmark.
The IBA is an organisation of international law practitioners, bar associations, and law societies. It was established in 1947 following the creation of the United Nations and was created to contribute to world stability and peace through the administration of justice. In the 75 years since its creation, it has evolved from an association composed exclusively of bar associations and law societies to one that incorporates individual international lawyers and entire law firms.
Current membership includes more than 80,000 international lawyers from most of the world’s leading law firms and some 190 bar associations covering more than 170 countries.
