Hogan Lovells promotes partner and two counsel

Hogan Lovells has promoted Jon Aurrekoetxea to Litigation partner and Jesús García and Felipe Vázquez Acedo to Employment and M&A counsel respectively

Hogan Lovells welcomed 2022 with 27 new partner and 71 new counsel promotions globally, across a network of 47+ offices in 24+ countries, spanning the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The additions to the partnership are a reflection of the firm’s global legal practice. The new partners include 12 in the Americas, spread across our Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Denver and Mexico City offices, 14 in Europe, the Middle East & Africa, spread across our Birmingham, London, Munich, Hamburg, Paris, Madrid and Brussels offices and one in Asia-Pacific, in Hong Kong. 44% women, 11% racial and ethnic minority and 5% LGBTQ+

In addition to the 27 new partners, 71 of our lawyers have been promoted to counsel.

Jon Aurrekoetxea is the new Litigation partner of the firm´s Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment group. Jon is today a lawyer with an unusual cross-wise training and experience that allow him being in a superb position for advising and representing clients in complex multidisciplinary matters. After 12 years of professional experience, Jon is a highly qualified litigation lawyer specialized in complex Corporate Disputes (Litigation and Arbitration) deriving form M&A transactions, shareholders agreements, private equity transactions, joint, ventures, Corporate Liability actions, challenge of corporate resolutions, etc.

Jon has also broad experience in Commercial and Contractual Litigation and Arbitration in numerous sectors, such as the automotive sector, the industrial one, e-commerce, real estate or Consumer Law.

He is a Law graduate from Universidad de Deusto and holds a Master´s degree in European Legal Studies from KU Leuven and an LLM in Law, Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University law Center. He started his career at Uría Menéndez as an associate and joined Hogan Lovells three years later in 2008. He teaches Civil Proceedings Simulation at the Master´s degree in Access to the Legal Profession at Universidad Autónomo de Madrid.

Jesús García is the new counsel in the firm’s Employment practice, inside the Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment group in Madrid. He has a Law degree and a Political Sciences degree both by the University of Salamanca and an Advance Course on Employment Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid). He joined Hogan Lovells in 2019 and is specialised in Employment and Social Security Law. He has experience in solving employment and social security issues, for both national and international companies on a broad range of individual and collective matters including but not limited to senior executive contracts, transfer of employees, dismissals, redundancies or modification of working conditions. He has also experience in legal assistance and representation of the companies in all spheres of Social Law.

Felipe Vázquez is the new M&A counsel in the firm´s Corporate & Finance group (ipe is a counsel with a wealth of experience across the full range of corporate practices. He has more than 10 years of expertise in a variety of corporate work and general M&A, including venture capital transactions, private and public acquisitions, joint-ventures and restructuring, advising both domestic and international listed and unlisted clients and private equity houses. Felipe has participated in several corporate transactions for the sale and purchase of stakes in large companies, complex assignment of assets & liabilities and the establishment of all kinds of corporate vehicles for foreign enterprises to carry out their business within the Spanish market. Moreover, Felipe is very active in monetisation transactions with financial institutions, bancassurance joint-ventures and cross-border transactions across Continental Europe and Latin America.
