The new partners will strengthen the firm’s Corporate Governance, M&A, Litigation, Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property, and Insolvency practice areas. They are Juan José Ríos, Roberto Benito and Eduardo González. The objective is to strengthen the firm’s current Legal capabilities and expand them into new areas of law, consolidating it as a benchmark operator in Legal services.

The three new partners join GT from Acebo & Rubio, as well as the other seven new professionals. The strong team will take advantage of the synergies between the different Legal practices offered by Grant Thornton to strengthen the existing client portfolio and will continue to open up markets, expand the business and generate new opportunities.

In the distribution of his responsibilities, Juan José Ríos will be responsible for the Intellectual Property and Media practice and will be in charge of the Litigation team dedicated to judicial and administrative proceedings, out-of-court negotiations and the fight against piracy of audiovisual content. He holds a Law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Roberto Benito will focus on M&A, Restructuring, and Private Equity, with a special focus on serving family offices and institutional investors. He is secretary of the Board of Directors of several private equity management companies and their investee companies. He holds a degree in Law and Business Administration, specialising in Account Auditing, from the Complutense University of Madrid and is a PhD candidate in Commercial Law at the same university.

Finally, Eduardo González will be a Litigation and Real Estate lawyer, thanks to his extensive experience in the defence of civil and contentious-administrative proceedings related to construction and shopping centres and parks, as well as in providing legal advice to some of the main companies in both sectors, essentially in the areas of leases, horizontal property, and contracts. He also holds a Law degree from the Complutense University and completed a Master’s degree in Corporate Legal Consultancy at IE Law School.

This new phase of inorganic growth of the firm has been driven by the opportunities detected in the legal market. According to Álvaro Rodríguez, national managing partner of Grant Thornton Legal: “We have been developing a strategy of organic and inorganic progression for several years, reinforcing the specialities that the market itself and our clients are showing us, and this has recently been reflected in the opening of our new office in the Canary Islands and the arrival of these three new Partners in Madrid, in addition to two other potential operations that could materialise in the near future.”
