Álvaro was until now a senior associate in the Labor and Employment Law practice at Garrigues, a firm he joined in 2015.He specializes in Labour, Employment and Social Security Law, providing advice on strategic and complex aspects of Labor Law and human resources to national and international companies in a wide range of sectors. He has broad experience in Litigation before the labour and judicial review courts at all levels; individual and collective dismissals; penalties; suspension of contracts and modifications to working conditions; transfers; other flexibility measures; outsourcing processes; senior management; measures to achieve a work/life balance; equality plans; dealings with the labour inspection authorities; individual and collective negotiations; negotiation of collective labor agreements; temporary contracts; workplace harassment; unlawful loaning of workers; mediation; conciliation hearings; internal protocols, policies and reports; labor due diligence reviews; and recurring advice on Labour matters to all kinds of companies and industries.
Álvaro holds an impressive academic background. He is a double graduate in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, being the first on his class (Law). He holds a Master´s degree in Private Law from the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM), a Master’s degree in Negotiation, Leadership and Management Skills and another in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations from GADE Business School. He also was awarded the Minerva prize (bronze) as first in graduating class at the Executive Master’s degree in Labour Law Advice (PSAL) from IE Business School. He also holds an LLM from Centro de Estudios Garrigues (International Transactions) and another from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Occupational Hazard Prevention).
He now joins RENFE as a Labour counsel, where he will work on the Spanish railway operator Labour Relations area management providing comprehensive legal advice on Labour Law for the companies belonging to the RENFE group.
