Secways Ventures has received the CNMV authorisation to become an SCR.
Catalan entrepreneur and investor Pere Hospital has joined forces with Talenta Gestión (headed by Jordi Jofre) to launch the venture capital company, with the aim of boosting the investment activity in technology-based start-ups that it has been carrying out since 2008 with its family office.
Secways Ventures has just been registered in the CNMV’s register of venture capital firms. In its new vehicle, Hospital has teamed up with Barcelona-based financial services firm Talenta Gestión, headed by Jordi Jofre, which will manage the SCR.
Based in Barcelona, the fund starts with a share capital of €1.2 million contributed in full by Secways, Hospital’s family office. Secways Ventures will invest in technology-intensive start-ups operating in segments such as e-commerce (B2B or B2C), software as a service (Saas) or disruptive applications and technologies. The intention is to enter start-ups at an early stage, through pre-seed or seed rounds.
Garrigues advised Secways and Talenta Gestión with a Financial Regulation team led by partner Luis de la Peña, and including senior associate Francesc Cholvi, associate Marcelo Moreira and trainee David Harto López.
