Garrigues helps Citri&Co acquire Arco Fruits, advised by Carrillo

Garrigues has advised Citri&Co, a Miura Partners’ portfolio company, on its acquisition of Arco Fruits, a French company specialising in the sale and distribution of organic, zero post-harvest treatment, and agroecological citrus and stone fruit, that was counselled by Carrillo Asesores

-

Citri&Co is a Miura Partners’ portfolio company and the largest vertically integrated player specialised in fresh fruit in Europe.

The transaction reinforces Citri&Co’s sustainability strategy, strengthens its market share in France and increases its operational and commercial capabilities in the region. Founded in 1988 and with logistics headquarters in Perpignan, Arco Fruits is a referent distributor among the main retailers in the country through renowned brands.

France is one of the most relevant European countries in citrus and fresh fruit, and the organic segment represents 14% of total fruit consumption. Thanks to Arco Fruits, Citri&Co broadens its sustainable products portfolio and improves its position in this category. In fact, RioTinto ―a company within the group― and Arco Fruits were already strategic partners.

Arco Fruits will continue to be led by current president & director Jean Contreras and the management team, who will rely on Citri&Co’s know-how and strengths to further develop the organic categories in the French market. After the acquisition, Citri&Co will boost commercial and operational synergies with Arco Fruits to achieve a fully integrated supply, resulting in better and closer client service.

Carrillo Asesores Tributarios y Abogados’ team was led by founding partner José Gabriel Carrillo and lawyer Pedro Lacal, along with the support of its France office Tax team.

Garrigues’ team was led by partners Ernesto Rey and Lorena Colomer, with the support of principal associate Isabel Pérez Cabrero, and senior associates Manuel Merino and Arantxa Forn.
