Garrigues guides Albia Capital´s integration of Empresax

Garrigues has advised IMAP Albia Capital on its acquisition of Empresax, combining forces to emerge as one of the main firms in M&A practice throughout Spain

-

IMAP Albia Capital takes a new step in its growth plan by integrating Empresax, a boutique specialised in corporate transactions, led by Francisco José Hidalgo-Barquero and Ricardo Dávila, thus positioning itself as one of the leading companies in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Spain.

According to Fernando Cabos, partner at IMAP Albia Capital: “As in other sectors, innovation and technology are transforming the M&A sector. With this union, we seek to add the Empresax Team’s innovation gene and technology application to our technical excellence, international reach and extensive multi-sector experience in corporate transactions.”

For Francisco Hidalgo-Barquero and Ricardo Dávila, partners of Empresax “We were born motivated by the possibility of doing M&A in a different way. After six years as an independent firm and having seen the positive outcome of applying agile technology and methodologies to merger and acquisition processes, we needed a new challenge. We are certain that we can compete to lead this industry, but in order to accomplish this we need more resources and capabilities. The prospects of leaning on the experience of more than 18 years in Spain of IMAP and the track record of the entire organization at an international level, is a boost of incalculable value. This union would not be possible without the cultural and human fit that we have been able to verify after a year of conversations with the entire team. We are very grateful to be able to work with all the people that integrate the IMAP team.”

Clients of both companies are the biggest beneficiaries of this transaction, receiving an improved service and the support of the trustworthy members of IMAP Albia Capital and Empresax, in the same way as up to now.

Garrigues advised Albia with a Bilbao office Corporate team comprising partner Ignacio Eróstegui and principal associate Ana Barandiarán.
