Garrigues, Uría advise on Queka’s investment in Cerería Mollá

Garrigues has advised Private Equity firm Queka Real Partners on its investment in Cerería Mollá 1899, represented by Uría Menéndez, to drive the growth and succession of the centenary group

-

Spanish fund Queka Real Partners has closed its seventh investment with the acquisition of a stake in Cerería Mollá 1899 to support the generational succession of the century-old Valencian candle manufacturer and distributor and boost its growth inside and outside Spain, both organically and through acquisitions.

According to El Economista, after this entry, Santiago Mollá Mico, sole director and CEO, maintains a significant stake and remains at the helm of the family business of luxury personalised and scented candles, with a presence in 50 countries.

Founded in 1899 and headquartered in Albaida (Valencia), Cerería Mollá specialises in the handcrafted manufacture of scented candles, diffusers and aromatic elements for the home. The company is led by the fourth generation of the family, which has been expanding its range of products with new ranges for interior perfuming and body cosmetics (diffusers, incense, scented waxes for burners, bath gels and body cream, among others), while maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and local trade. The group closed 2021 with 9 million in sales, doubling the 2020 figures.

Queka is a Spanish private equity firm with over 50 years of combined experience investing in Spain. Queka invests in non-listed companies in order to ensure solid development and to implement a sustainable growth strategy.

Garrigues advised Queka with a Murcia office team made up of Corporate head partner in the region of Levante José Manuel Hernando, Corporate principal associate Emilio José Teruel, Tax partner Bartolomé Ubeda and Tax senior associate Antonio Morga.
