Garrigues adds Competition partner in Brussels

Garrigues has strengthened its international Competition Law practice with the incorporation of Mark English, a specialist in all areas of this subject, as a partner in its Brussels office

-

Mark’s appointment will be submitted for approval at a forthcoming partners’ meeting. With more than 12 years of experience in international law firms in Brussels, English has represented clients in some of the most high-profile competition law matters in recent years. His practice focuses mainly on infringement proceedings, merger control, litigation before EU courts and damages proceedings before courts in different jurisdictions.

Garrigues’ new partner holds a Law degree from the University of Sheffield (UK) and postgraduate studies at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice (Oxford University and Oxford Brookes University, UK). He also holds an LL.M. in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). He is a British and Belgian national and, in addition to being a member of the Brussels Bar, is a solicitor in England and Wales.

The Brussels office of Garrigues has a team of lawyers recognised for their technical excellence and established experience in administrative and judicial proceedings before the institutions and courts of the EU and its Member States. Garrigues’ lawyers in Brussels represent clients in some of the leading international competition law matters.

English believes that “Garrigues has achieved a recognition in Brussels that, until now, has been reserved for the big Anglo-Saxon firms; I am confident that my joining the team will help us to reach even greater heights.”

“Mark brings a wealth of experience in high-profile matters and in areas that are very relevant to our clients. His addition reinforces our ability to provide top-quality advice on complex international matters,” said Alfonso Lamadrid, partner in charge of Garrigues’ Brussels office.
