FCC Construction hires partner from Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo

FCC Construction has hired José Martínez Peña, who was until now a partner at Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, to reinforce its international Legal department

José joins FCC international Construction’s Legal department from Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, where he has been working until now and where he was a partner. He has 19 years of experience as a lawyer in Civil and Commercial matters, specialising in Litigation and Arbitration.

He has focused his practice on Litigation Law in the areas of Civil and Commercial Law (agency, distribution and franchise agreements, challenging corporate agreements, and actions for liability of directors), Unfair Competition, Civil Protection of Honour, Privacy and personal image, and Banking Law.

He also has extensive experience in national and international Arbitration, both ad hoc and before arbitration institutions (ICC, Spanish Court of Arbitration, CIMA, etc.). He is an arbitrator of the Spanish Court of Arbitration. He started his career at KPMG Abogados, where he worked for four years. He was later a Lawyer of the Dispute Resolution Department at Madrid’s office of Hammonds (actually Squire Sanders) and a senior associate at Alae Abogados, advising on matters of the Litigation, Corporate and Commercial areas. Finally, before joining Cremades in 2013, he was a senior associate at Irwin Mitchell.

On his new appointment, he said: “After almost ten years at Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, I am grateful to all my colleagues and friends who have accompanied me on this journey, and I am very excited to embark on a new professional project in the international area of FCC Construcción’s legal department. I am thrilled with the enormous personal and professional challenge that this great adventure represents. Thanks to all those who have been my colleagues during this time and to those who have made it possible MWCC. I can’t wait to start this new stage!”
