Ex-Uría duo launch new boutique law firm

Former Uría Menéndez lawyers Pedro Javier Belda Peinado and Javier Bordón Valiente, have founded Belda Bordón Abogados bouqtique law firm

Belda Bordón Abogados is the new boutique law firm specialising in Corporate/Commercial and Tax law, founded by ex-Uría Menéndez lawyers, that will offer personalised and innovative Legal solutions, and 360º advice in all branches of Law throughout Spain (especially Madrid, Valencia, Las Palmas and Ciudad Real), through collaborations with leading law firms.

Pedro Javier Belda is a Law and Business Administration graduate from Universidad Europea, joined Uría menéndez in 2017 and has been until now a senior associate, having spent 3 years abroad at top universities such as UC Berkeley (San Francisco), London School of Economics and Political Science (London) and Dublin Business School (Dublin) where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies with honours. After graduating, he completed a dual LLM in Legal Practice and LLM in Corporate Legal Consultancy at Instituto de Empresa, where he graduated with Dean’s List distinction. He has more than 5 years of experience advising industrial clients and private equity firms at Uría Menéndez on Mergers and Acquisitions, sale and purchase of companies, joint ventures, and other investment and divestment transactions.

Pedro also has extensive experience in Capital Markets, Corporate Law, and Corporate Governance, as well as in Financial and Regulatory Law, regularly providing advice in these fields and recurrently participating in corporate Restructuring transactions, the sale of credit portfolios, debt issues, securitisations, and other structured financings. Among the sectors in which he has particular expertise are energy, industry, finance and real estate.

Javier Bordón Valiente joined Uría Menéndez in 2017 as a lawyer in the Tax department, becoming a senior associate in 2021. He is a Law graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. After graduating, he took the double Master’s degree in access to the legal profession and LLM in Corporate Tax consultancy at Centro de Estudios Garrigues.

He has more than 5 years of experience advising national and international investors, private equity groups, and financial institutions on the taxation of real estate purchases and sales (i.a., residences, hotels, homes, logistics warehouses), mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestment operations and taxation issues in general. He has also advised on the tax structure of foreign investors in Spain.

Specialising in Tax Law, he also frequently advises on international tax transactions and Corporate Restructurings, as well as on the implementation of foreign investments in Spain, especially through Tax-advantaged instruments in the real estate sector. He has also undertaken the defence of tax proceedings on specific issues of domestic law or with an international component and has experience in negotiating with the tax authorities at all levels.
