Eversheds Europe appoints Jacobo Martínez to lead HR

The new role, which includes the responsibility of managing the professional area and the partner and associate development programmes across Europe, will last two years

Eversheds Sutherland’s Spain country manager, Jacobo Martinez, joins the firm’s global management team. His contribution will be key in the area of Human Resources and partner and associate development programmes. The firm has announced today the appointment of Jacobo as a new member of the firm’s European Executive Committee at a global level.

In his new position, which will last for two years, Jacobo will lead the Human Resources area and the partner and associate development programmes, one of the firm’s strategic pillars for 2023. His duties will include attracting, retaining and maximising the potential of the best and most diverse talent; driving brand clarity, consistency and confidence; building a diverse and inclusive global community, and fostering the firm’s growth.

Eversheds Sutherland’s European Executive Committee is made up of a total of five partners from different nationalities. Its objective is to ensure the strategy set out for all European offices and to ensure the firm’s successful growth. Specifically, the committee is made up of: Ian Gray (UK), chairman of Eversheds Sutherland Europe, who leads the client area; Helen Thomas (UK), managing partner Europe and head of brand; Jonas Saldzius, managing partner Lithuania, who coordinates the technology area; Peter Haas, managing partner Switzerland, responsible for the Compliance area; and Jacobo Martinez, as head of the professionals’ area and its development.

Jacobo Martínez, managing partner of the firm in Spain since October 2020 and head of the Labour and Employment department, has more than 20 years of experience in all matters related to labour law and social security, including the implementation of complex remuneration systems, advice on the labour implications of acquisitions, mergers and other operations constituting company succession, as well as the various processes of workforce restructuring, collective bargaining and the resolution of legal disputes. He is also an expert in areas such as restructuring large companies and modifications/extinctions of senior management contracts.
