ECIJA continues to grow with the incorporation of Héctor Sbert as a new partner in the Barcelona office. After his experience as managing partner at Lawants, Sbert reinforces the areas of Litigation and Insolvency Law.
Sbert has more than 20 years of experience advising national and international clients from all sectors in the field of Litigation and Insolvency law. ECIJA’s new signing worked at Brosa Abogados, managing and following Civil and Commercial Litigation and Insolvency proceedings, between 2008 and 2011
Héctor is an expert in international Commercial Litigation and Arbitration, in particular in the enforcement of national and foreign judgments, asset tracing and recovery, civil and commercial fraud and Contentious Insolvency, and has been recognised by prestigious international rankings like Best Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal in his practice areas.
He is also the representative for Spain of FraudNet, a global network of lawyers that, under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), brings together the leading international specialists in asset tracing & recovery. He is a Member of the London Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb.)and a Registered Mediator at the Ministry of Justice.
Sbert holds a Ph.D. in Law from the Pompeu Fabra University and an Executive MBA from IESE. In addition, he has been Member of the Deputy of the Governing Board of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB) and Chair of the Bar’s Ethics Commission.
Héctor speaks Spanish, Catalan, English, French, German and Italian.
Sbert has also chaired the Insolvency Law Committee of the International Association of Young Lawyers . Sbert holds a law degree from the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. He also holds an MBA from IESE. The new ECIJA partner also has a specialisation in Litigation Law from the Universidad de Barcelona and a PhD in Law from Univsersidad Pompeu Fabra.
With Sbert, four partners have landed in ECIJA Barcelona office in the last year: Ignasi Navarro and César Martínez joined in July as partners in the Labour area, and Vanesa Alarcón, who has been leading the Data Protection and TMT area since September.
In addition to these, the firm announced the arrival of Íñigo Zumalabe and Miguel Sánchez to its Madrid office at the start of 2022 as partners in the Corporate and Capital Markets areas, respectively.
