Three professors from the UPO of Seville, among them DWF-RCD of counsel María Jesús Guerrero, have been appointed members of the General Codification Commission

The Commission is a higher collegiate advisory body to the Ministry, chair by the Ministry of Justice, which is responsible for the preparation of pre-legislative and regulatory texts, as well as providing advice for the best orientation, preservation and protection of the Spanish legal system. The Commission is made up of sections on Civil, Commercial, Public, Criminal and Litigation Law.

María Jesús is a professor of Commercial Law at the Pablo de Olavide University, with five “quinquenios” (five-year term recognitions for teaching activities) and five “sexenios” (six-year term recognitions for investigative activities), one of which being a “sexenio de transferencia” (a six-year term recognition for transfer of knowledge in investigative activities). Holding a PhD in Law from the Universidad de Sevilla, she was accredited as a professor in 2012, after having being granted the status of full professor at the University of Seville. She has advanced in her academic career, closely linked to professional practice, combining teaching and research with advice to companies and the elaboration of dictums. She also has extensive experience in management, having held the position of general secretary at the International University of Andalusia.

Her participation in pre-legislative work, both nationally and internationally is especially noteworthy, having contributed to the redaction of the Draft of the Commercial Code (General Codification Commission) and participated in working groups of the European Commission and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

In her research role, she is the author of several monographs, collective works, and many articles in important scientific journals, especially those related to Transport Law –particularly air transport– and Corporate and Insurance law. For years, she has directed publicly funded research projects with researchers under her supervision.
