The building is currently occupied by Abertis, which will vacate the building at the end of June. After two decades at Castellanar 35, occupying three floors of the building, DLA Piper plans to begin renovations on 1 July.
The transaction has been advised by DLA Piper Real Estate head partner Orson Alcocer and Knight Frank, a leading international private real estate consultancy.
In the words of Jesús Zapata, managing partner of DLA Piper in Spain, “the idea of changing the building of our headquarters in Madrid stems from a desire to provide a better working environment for our professionals and clients. This move, to a complete building, will provide us with a more modern and sustainable working environment in which we will have more open, luminous and flexible spaces that prioritise energy efficiency, air quality and thermal, acoustic and environmental comfort.”
In terms of area, history, size and the complexity of the operation, with negotiations from November 2021 until the agreement is reached, this is one of the most important lease contracts of the year. The move coincides with the 20th anniversary of DLA Piper in Spain, a global business law firm that recently, thanks to the commitment and excellence of the organisation, has achieved ISO 9001 in quality management in accordance with this international standard.
