DLA Piper, PM advise on MDSR’s acquisition of supermarket portfolio from Amundi and investors

Pinsent Masons has advised MDSR on the acquisition of 9 supermarkets from a group of investors led by Amundi, which was advised by DLA Piper

Amundi Immobilier and MDSR Investments have reached an agreement on one of the most significant acquisitions of the year in the sector. The French fund manager has sold a portfolio of 9 supermarkets located in Spain (5) and Italy (4), mainly operated by Carrefour and one by the Italian cooperative Coop. The price of the transaction has not been disclosed, but market sources point to €180 million.

The hypermarkets are located in the following locations: Santander, San Sebastián de los Reyes, Alcalá de Henares, Ávila and Málaga in Spain and Turin, Florence, Matera and Ancona in Italy.

The deal adds 123,000 square metres to MDSR Investments’ retail portfolio.

BNP Paribas Real Estate and Cushman & Wakefield advised Amundi Immobilier throughout the sale process. DLA Piper provided legal advice to the seller and Pinsent Masons to the buyer.

DLA Piper team was led by Real Estate partner Orson Alcocer and Tax partner Miguel Baz along with Real Estate senior associate Fátima Rico-Villademoros, Real Estate associates Cristina Astray, Alejandro Marquez and Luis Durban, and Tax associate Alberto Lobato.

Pinsent Masons advised with a team led by Real Estate partner José Luis García-Manso, along with associate Raquel Badell Fabelo and lawyer Pedro Esquivel de la Guardia.
