Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, has strengthened its Madrid office with the addition of Roberto Tojo Thomas de Carranza, as the new partner responsible for the firm’s Real Estate practice in Spain. Joining Tojo as associates are Francisco Jiménez Alarcón, José Ramón Pérez Álvarez-Robles, Gumersindo Clemente Tijeras and Francisco de Bonilla Díaz, all of them from the Ramón y Cajal law firm.
Roberto Tojo has 20 years’ experience advising developers, investors and funds on complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions and divestments, sale & leaseback transactions, leases and construction contracts. He has also worked on real estate and infrastructure financing transactions and is recognised as one of the leading lawyers in the Real Estate practice in Spain by international legal directories such as Chambers Europe and The Legal 500. Prior to joining Dentons, he was a partner and head of the Real Estate Law Department at Ramón y Cajal Abogados and was previously a lawyer at Clifford Chance.
In addition to his legal practice, Tojo teaches Real Estate and Urban Law at several universities such as Instituto de Empresa (IE) and ISDE, and previously at Centro de Estudios Garrigues and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
“Roberto Tojo is a highly respected lawyer in the sector, and his incorporation will further strengthen our Real Estate team,” says Jabier Badiola, managing partner of Dentons in Spain. “His incorporation is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening our presence and improving the legal service we offer in the Spanish market by attracting the best talent in key practice areas for the firm.”
“Dentons is a global firm with one of the largest and most valued Real Estate practices across Europe. I am firmly convinced that it is the ideal place to serve the needs of my clients, especially international clients,” said Roberto Tojo.
