Aris Gold Corporation is a company listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange in Canada. Mubadala Investment Company is a sovereign wealth fund of the United Arab Emirates-based in Abu Dhabi, the parent company of Sociedad Minera de Santander (Minesa).
Dentons Colombia and Spain teams advised Canadian multinational mining company Aris Gold Corporation on the acquisition of a 20% stake in the Soto Norte gold project in Colombia, with the option to acquire an additional 30% stake from MDC Industry Holding Company LLC (Mubadala), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based investment firm Mubadala Investment Company PJSC.
The Soto Norte Gold Gold Project is located within the traditional mining area of California – Vetas, located approximately 350 km north of Bogota and 55 km northeast of the city of Bucaramanga, the capital of the Department of Santander.
Jorge Neher, the lead partner of the Energy and Mining practice in Latin America and the Caribbean, led and coordinated the legal team for the project, which consisted of partners and associates from the Spanish and Colombian offices. On this deal, Neher commented: “We are delighted to have been able to assist Aris Gold Corporation in this important acquisition of one of the world’s largest high-grade gold projects in the feasibility stage.”
