After a one-year transition period with Luis Fernando Guerra, managing partner of Deloitte Legal since 2009, Nicolás de Gaviria has just taken the reins of a firm with more than 600 lawyers and a turnover of more than €132 million.
Nicolás is a Law graduate from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with a Master’s degree in Taxation from the Centro de Estudios Financieros and a PDD from IESE Business School, De Gaviria joined Deloitte in 1997 and made partner in 2011. He has been involved in international restructuring processes for clients mainly in the tourism, hotel and services sectors.
The changes in the firm have not only been limited to the top management, as there are also new developments in some of the most important areas. María Guinot, Willy de Molina and José María Gómez Rosende are the new head partners of the Legal, Tax and Mergers and Acquisitions areas, respectively.
Until her current appointment, María Guinot held the position of partner head of Regulatory, Public Law and Compliance at Deloitte Legal. She is a Law graduate from Universidad de Valencia and a State Lawyer on leave of absence. She is an expert in advising on regulated areas of economic activity.
Willy de Molina, new head of the Tax area of Deloitte Legal, has been responsible for the firm’s Transfer Pricing practice. He is an expert in this area in all types of sectors, particularly in the financial sector, and has been working as a specialist in International Taxation in Spain and the United States.
José María Gómez Rosende is the new head of the Mergers and Acquisitions practice. He has been a partner at Deloitte Legal since 2012 and specialises in Corporate Taxation. He has extensive experience in structuring projects for the purchase and sale of multinational groups, Tax Due Diligence, reorganisation of business models, debt refinancing and design of incentive plans for executives in private equity investments.
