The deadline to submit bids for the reindustrialisation of Nissan in the Zona Franca closed on Monday with only one candidate, the decarbonisation hub (D-Hub) led by QEV and Btech, with logistics operator Goodman in the lead.
The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, owner of the land on which the facilities occupied by Nissan until 31 December last year are located, had intended to close the bidding process in the summer, but different circumstances forced it to extend the deadline up to three times. Finally, the D-Hub has formalised its proposal and remains the only bid for the land. Other initiatives have fallen by the wayside, such as that of China’s Great Wall Motors (GWM). China’s Chery had also shown interest, but was discarded when the deadline was reached.
With a single bid, the final phase for the award of the tender for the reindustrialisation of the Zona Franca de Barcelona has begun. The contracting board is expected to meet again on 4 and 17 November to advance other phases of the opening of envelopes, before publishing a final resolution from those dates.
Deloitte Legal advised Btech on this deal with an M&A team comprising partners Ignacio Sanjurjo and Agustín del Río, senior associate Carmen Muelas and associate Tamara Gutiérrez, as well a Deloitte Financial Advisory team formed by Marc Saenger and Jesús Meliá.
