Cuatrecasas guides AEW´s RE acquisition in Barcelona

Cuatrecasas has advised the German fund AEW Invest GmbH on the turnkey acquisition of a large building in Barcelona

The property is located at Via Augusta 59, in the heart of the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, one of the most exclusive in the Catalan capital.

With this transaction, AEW Invest GmbH is adding a luxury multi-purpose building to its property portfolio, consisting of multiple residential units, parking spaces and commercial premises. It will profit from this investment by commercially exploiting it through leasing contracts, thus pursuing its growth strategy in the Spanish rental market.

AEW is one of the largest real estate investment managers in the world, with over 400 clients with $89.7/€77.4 billion in assets under management across all property types in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific, and over 770 employees in 17 offices across the globe.

The Cuatrecasas´ team involved in the transaction was made up of Barcelona office partners Gerard Hernández, and Meritxell Yus, senior associate Carolina Gómez, and lawyers José Luis García de Cal, Xavier Morera, Anna Ais and Santiago Casas.
