Cuatrecasas appoints new head of Corporate & Finance for Levante

Cuatrecasas has confirmed the appointment of Agustín Cerdá, until now partner in charge of the Finance practice at Cuatrecasas’ Mexico office, where he was also a founding partner, to lead the Corporate & Finance in Levante region

-

Agustin joined Cuatrecasas in 2003. He has vast experience advising and structuring financing transactions (including but not limited to project finance, corporate finance, and acquisition finance), pre-bankruptcy financial restructuring negotiations, and distressed investing.

He has advised domestic and international banks, funds, multilateral institutions, and relevant corporations in a broad range of financing and refinancing transactions relating to many different industries, such as gas, solar power, wind power, petrochemical, retail, financial services, construction, real estate, telecommunications, leisure, transportation, and hydraulic infrastructure. Additionally, he has participated in public procurement procedures for the granting of concession rights for the development of infrastructure and public utility projects.

Agustin has spent a meaningful part of his career advising on cross-border financing transactions with a special focus in Latin America, having worked in the Latam practice group in the New York office of Chadbourne and Parke (one of the top law firms in the field of energy, financial restructuring and investment in Latin America), in the Washington DC headquarters of the Inter American Development Bank and for the last period he has been -until now- leading the Finance practice of Cuatrecasas´ office in Ciudad de México where he was one of the founding partners.

He is a specialist in financing transactions, both through syndicated and bilateral facilities (acquisition finance in leveraged buyouts, corporate and structured financing), financial restructuring of distressed companies, asset financing and project finance transactions in Spain, Latin America and the US.

He lectures on Banking and Finance in the Master in European Business Law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE, on the university’s Commercial Law practicum, and Project Finance in the Expert in Quantitative Finance Program at Analistas Financieros Internacionales (AFI).

He is the author of articles on legal aspects of his area of expertise, published in national and international journals, including the World Securities Law Report, Project Finance International, Revista Española de Capital Riesgo, and Revista de Derecho del Mercado de Valores.

He is a Law and Economics graduate from the Universidad de Valencia with an extraordinary award in both disciplines and an LLM from Harvard University. In addition to being an expert in Corporate Finance and Project Finance, he is a member of the firm’s Infrastructure and Energy group. His Project Finance practice has been highlighted by leading legal directories.

“We believe that Levante is going to play an important role in the development of the country, and the firm is redoubling its commitment, with the opening of new offices and investment in relevant signings to strengthen the main practice areas”, said Agustín Cerdá about his new appointment. And he added: “Clients are increasingly demanding a value that sets us apart in the services we provide; we will only be able to respond to this demand if, in addition to being excellent technicians, we have a good understanding of the particularities of the business sectors in which we operate.”
