CMS Spain adds Public Law counsel from Linklaters

CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo has reinforced its Public Law practice with the signing of Juan Moreno as counsel

The department, which currently has two partners; director Ignacio Grangel and Alfonso Codes, now has 13 lawyers in the Madrid office and is consolidating its position as one of the main areas of the firm.  

Moreno joins the firm from Linklaters in Madrid, where he has spent his entire professional career since 2013, serving as a managing associate of the department. He has nine years of experience advising large national and international companies on complex matters with a high regulatory component. During his professional career, Juan has participated in all types of contentious administrative, administrative (including public procurement), and sanctioning proceedings before the Supreme Court and other courts.

In addition, Juan has also advised numerous international private equity and venture capital funds in their M&A transactions in Spain in regulated sectors, in particular electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and other services.

Juan is a Law graduate with a Diploma in Business Studies from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas-ICADE (E-1).

Ignacio Grangel, managing partner of the Public Law and Regulated Sectors department, commented: “Our department is growing in line with the evolution of the Firm, developing to serve our clients in increasingly complex matters and with a special focus on the energy and telecommunications sectors. Juan’s arrival will contribute to strengthening a key practice.”
