Borja, who was until now a Finance counsel at Ashurst, advises banks, financial institutions, funds and companies on all kind of finance transactions (such as debt restructurings, NPLs, acquisition, leveraged, asset and corporate finance), both domestic and international.
He advises clients in different industry sectors and also on pre-insolvency debt restructurings, on the investment in distressed assets and acquisition of non-performing debt portfolios, and on corporate rescue financing.
He was part of the team advising a syndicate of banks on the financing granted to the Spanish bottling company of Coca-Cola, to international funds on the restructuring and financing of one of the main cosmetic groups in Spain and to international funds and banks on the restructuring and financing of several Spanish listed companies. He also advised Sandfire on its debt financing for the purchase of Minas De Aguas Teñidas. His most recent work includes advising a group of finance parties on the refinancing of debt for Diebold Nixdorf
Borja has also been involved in the past in Corporate and Commercial matters, having advised private equity houses and investors on Corporate matters, Mergers and Acquisitions, Venture Capital and joint ventures, having been appointed as secretary and vice-secretary to the board of directors of several Spanish companies.
He started his career at Araoz & Rueda, and worked at Broseta before joining Ashurst in 2015, making counsel in 2020. He is a Law graduate from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, and holds an LLM in Internatioal Business Law from LSE.
