Clyde & Co promotes two new partners in Madrid

Clyde & Co has promoted Clara Bermejo and Carlos Cid as partners in its Madrid office, strengthening the Regulatory, Cyber Risk and Transportation practice areas

-

Clyde & Co has announced internal promotions that will take effect from this May around the world. In Spain, Clara Bermejo and Carlos Cid have been promoted as partners of the firm after demonstrating their great value during their 9 and 7 years, respectively, as lawyers in the Madrid office of Clyde & Co.

Clara Bermejo, who specialises in Insurance Regulatory Law and Cyber Risks, holds degrees in law and political science and administration from the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville and the Autonomous University of Madrid. In her professional career, she has advised a large number of insurance companies and other insurance distributors, both Spanish and international, on the adaptation to Spanish law of policies and all types of contracts related to their activity, distribution of insurance products and claims before the Directorate General of Insurance and Pension Funds. Clara also regularly advises different companies, mainly insurance companies, on issues related to cyber risks and data protection.

Carlos Cid specialises in aviation and maritime law. He works on both domestic and international matters, including litigation and disputes, with a particular focus on cargo transport, aviation claims and insurance. A Law and Business Administration graduate from the University of Alicante and with an LLM in International Maritime Law from Swansea University, Carlos joined the transport team at Clyde & Co Madrid in 2016 after working at various firms in the maritime and transport sector.

Jesús Iglesias, partner in charge of the regulatory law and cyber risks practice area, says: “Given the increase, and increasing complexity, of cyber-attacks and the importance of complying with data protection regulations, together with the constant evolution of insurance regulations at both European and local level, Clara’s promotion is a well-deserved recognition for her excellent and not easy work and for all her contribution to the growth of these practice areas of the firm”.

Enrique Navarro, partner in charge of aviation, transport and maritime, comments that during his time at Clyde & Co, “Carlos has shown himself to be a superb lawyer who also has a substantial knowledge of the market. His experience in litigation and major transport claims is highly valued by our clients for his technical expertise,” he says.

These were not the only appointments, and the promotion of Clara Bermejo and Carlos Cid is part of a series of promotions to Legal Director/Counsel that the firm has made around the world, resulting in a total of 81 appointments. Of these, 44 are women, a percentage of 54.32%.
