Clifford Chance has today announced the promotion of 37 lawyers to the partnership, drawn from all of the firm’s market-leading practices and reflect continued investment and growth in every region.
41% (15) new partners were female, more than in any previous promotion round. The rolling average of 37% over five years is also the highest to date. The firm has a target of at least 40% female and at least 40% male global partners in the firm by 2030.
Regarding ethnicity: 23% (5) of the 21 new US and UK partners who have disclosed ethnicity identified as non-white. This exceeds the firm’s target of 15% of new partners by 2025 for the second year running.
Eugenio Fernández-Rico, until now senior associate, has significant experience in acquisition finance, debt restructuring, direct lending from unregulated entities and complex structured financings. He also specializes in leasing and financing structures in asset finance deals, particularly within the aviation industry. He represents financers, developers, sponsors, investors and borrowers in infrastructure, telecoms and energy project financings both in Spain and in Latin America (Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay).
He will make partner effective May 1.
Eugenio holds a double degree in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICAI-ICADE), and joined Clifford Chance Madrid in 2006 as a Banking & Finance lawyer after working at Edwin Coe and Garrigues. He holds a Master´s degree in Company Law from Centro de Estudios Garrigues.
Eugenio has advised on some of the most recent relevant Financing, Refinancing and Acquisition deals, the latest including representing China Three Gorges Europe on its acquisition of 181 MW portfolio of operating windfarms in Spain, or advising Banco Santander, S.A., on the €30 million bridge facility agreement and the lenders on the €132 million ESG-linked syndicated facilities agreement entered into with, among others, DIGI Spain Telecom.
