Ceca Magán revenues rise up to 19% in 2021

Ceca Magán Abogados closes 2021 with a turnover of €13.7 million, a 19% growth in comparison to 2020, thus meeting the expectations and goals set by the firm at the beginning of the year when the uncertainty due to the pandemic was still very present.

The firm consolidates its activity in the 10 fields of law in which it offers services, with a team of more than 130 professionals across its offices in Madrid, Barcelona, S/C de Tenerife and the ones recently opened, in October 2021, in Seville and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

For Esteban Ceca Gómez-Arevalillo, managing partner of the firm, “this sustained performance over the years and the 2021 figures are the result of the trust we’ve earned from those clients with whom we have been working for quite some time, as well as from those who have given us an opportunity over this past year, and of the work and dedication of each and every one of our professionals. We are extremely proud”.

Throughout 2021, the firm was strengthened with the arrival of five important partners of renowned standing: the Alonso Dregi brothers, José Carlos González Vázquez, Jesús Carrasco and Rafael Ariño, who joined at the end of the year.

It is worth mentioning the growth in turnover of the Commercial and Tax Law Departments, of 150% and 63% respectively. Likewise, in 2021, the Labor Law Department continued its upward trend, after posting growth of 50% in 2020, and registered an increase in revenues of 4% compared to the previous year. Enrique Ceca, managing partner of this department, stated that “after an unprecedented 2020, we appreciate the success achieved in 2021 even more, since it shows that, through dedication and constant effort, we have been able to help many companies out of this exceptional crisis”.

However, in 2021, the firm was also hit by the harshness of the pandemic: “Unfortunately, we lived one of the saddest moments as a firm, the hardest side of the pandemic, we had to say goodbye to our partner and colleague Adrián Dupuy, a painful loss that affected all of us and tested our closeness as a team,” recalls Javier Lucas, member of the board and partner of the Tax Law Department.

The policy established in 2020 regarding telework and labour flexibility has been reinforced this year.  In the words of Ramón Mesonero-Romanos, member of the board and partner, “teleworking is also a reality in the legal profession, in our firm it has allowed us to be more operational and efficient in the use of our offices and workspaces. It has also given us the opportunity to offer professionals more flexibility compared to other firms, enabling us to retain talent, and facilitating the work-life balance of our employees, who have valued the policies in place very positively.”

According to Esteban Ceca, managing partner: “Our outlook for 2022 remains optimistic in the face of a pandemic with an unknown timeline, although we expect everything to be back to normal by 2023. However, the events of the last two years lead us to weigh our expectations with the utmost caution, because if there is one thing that is really marking this stage, it is the unpredictability of what may come next. Our challenges and goals for the firm as a whole are: to consolidate the latest incorporations, to grow our teams in the areas where we foresee the greatest needs, such as Labor, Commercial and Procedural Law, to keep turnover growth above 10% and to continue evolving as a project by conferring our own style to the exercise of the legal profession.”
