Pedro Méndez has worked as a Blockchain and Cryptoassets Lawyer, regularly advising companies from different sectors in the legal setup of projects that implement distributed ledger technologies (blockchain), as well as defining the legal nature of crypto-assets and assisting providers and issuers of crypto assets on complying with their legal obligations.
He joins Binance as legal counsel from Cuatrecasas where he has been working for more than six years in IP, Technology, Privacy, Blockchain, and Crypto assets matters. In this regard, he has been managing issues as analysing legal implications of use cases based on distributed ledger and blockchain technologies and advising providers of services related to crypto-assets on regulatory, IP, and data protection matters, advising issuers of crypto assets on regulatory, IP, and data protection matters, negotiating draft, and review contracts relating to data processing activities for processors, controllers, and joint-controllers, providing advice on international data transfer requirements, advising on privacy issues on internal investigations and on investigations of the Spanish data protection supervisory authority as well as on litigation procedures, drafting and negotiating software agreements.
He is a Law graduate from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where he also took his Master´s degree in Access to the Legal Profession. He also holds international studies in International Private Law from the Universität Hamburg.
He has also been a visiting lecturer on blockchain from a legal perspective and Legal Tech in the Master in Digital Transformation Leadership (MDTL) at the Barcelona Technology School.
