Baker McKenzie Spain nabs M&A and Capital Markets partner from A&O to lead this practice

Baker McKenzie has hired Fernando Torrente, one of the most renowned Spanish lawyers in the field of mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate governance, who joins from Allen & Overy where he was also a partner, as partner in charge of M&A and Capital Markets in its Madrid office

As the law firm has confirmed to Legal Dealmaker, Baker McKenzie has added AsFernando Torrente as partner in charge of M&A and Capital Markets in its Madrid office, effective 1 July 2023.

Fernando Torrente is one of the most recognised Spanish lawyers in the transactional field, both in M&A and capital markets (IPOs, IPOs, issuance and placement of securities, etc.). He is also one of the most experienced lawyers in corporate governance, having formed part of the Group of Experts that advised the CNMV on the drafting of the Good Governance Code for Listed Companies, approved in February 2015.

A Law graduate from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid/CEU San Pablo, he has a long track record of providing transactional legal advice to leading companies, investment banks, family groups and investment funds, having participated in more than forty IPOs. He is regularly recognised by the main legal directories as a leading lawyer in the areas of Corporate M&A and Equity Capital Markets, recurrently occupying prominent positions in the annual transaction rankings.
