Ashurst promotes Real Estate partner

Ashurst has strengthened its Real Estate practice with the promotion of Joaquín Macías Pérez as partner in Madrid office

International law firm Ashurst has promoted Joaquín Macías Pérez to partner in its real estate practice in Spain.

International law firm Ashurst today announced the appointment of 25 new partners globally – a record number of promotions at the firm for the second consecutive year. In Madrid, the firm has appointed Joaquín Macías Pérez, whose promotion will take effect on 1 May 2023.

Joaquín Macías Pérez joined Ashurst as a trainee in 2008, has spent his entire career at the firm, and until now has been counsel in the real estate law department of Ashurst Spain. He has extensive experience in advising on a wide range of real estate matters, including sale and purchase agreements for all types of assets, complex development and construction transactions and leasing, management and marketing contracts. He is also involved in real estate financing transactions, both acquisitions and assets under development.

Joaquín has participated in major transactions in the Spanish real estate market, and his ability to provide comprehensive advice in relation to all types of assets and the different disciplines that make up real estate law is a determining factor. Likewise, his ability to adapt to different market trends and moments and his leadership in team management are outstanding.

Joaquín holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE-E3). He is currently a lecturer in the Master in Real Estate at the international business school ESCP.

With this new appointment, the Ashurst Madrid office, which currently has more than seventy lawyers, will now have 16 partners.

For Jorge Vázquez Orgaz, managing partner of Ashurst in Spain, “Joaquín’s appointment as partner is great news for the firm and a source of pride for the Madrid office. His promotion is a well-deserved recognition of his excellent track record and his magnificent qualities. In addition, it once again highlights Ashurst’s commitment to internal talent”. Ismael Fernández Antón, managing partner of Ashurst’s real estate practice in Spain, said: “This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his excellent career and his outstanding contribution to our real estate practice, where he stands out for his work, dedication and professional commitment to our clients and to the firm. His promotion is also a reflection of our commitment to retaining and developing the talent of our teams and demonstrates the strength of the practice and its strategic nature for the firm, in Spain and internationally.”

In the words of new partner Joaquín Macías Pérez, “it is exciting to have become a partner in the firm where I started my professional career. I am very grateful to our clients for their trust and to all my colleagues for their support, especially Ismael Fernández Antón and Cristina Calvo, with whom I have had the good fortune to work during all these years, as well as the rest of great team that makes up the Madrid office and that makes Ashurst a firm with its own identity, especially recognised in the market. I look forward to continuing to develop the real estate team as one of the leaders in the market and to continue supporting our clients in their real estate investments in Spain”.
