Rocío de Troya holds a double degree in Law and International Relations from Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE with a stay abroad at University of Edinburgh. She also holds an LLM in European Law from Europacollege.
Rocío joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2014 as an associate in the firm´s Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice, making senior associate in the same practice in 2022, from where she now joins the computer giant as a senior Legal counsel for EMIA ( Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa).
At Freshfields Rocío advised clients on a wide range of Antitrust issues, including cartels and behavioural matters, as well as merger control. Her practice covers Spanish and European Competition Law across a range of sectors, including, among others, media, consumer goods, industrial and pharmaceutical products and medical devices.
Some of her work include advising Cinven, KKR and Providence, on their consortium investment, on the merger control aspects relating to a €3 billion voluntary public takeover bid for the entire share capital of MÁSMÓVIL IBERCOM, and representing Aon on the merger control aspects of its ongoing merger with Willis Towers Watson, in the insurance brokerage sector, as well as Mediapro in relation to the complaint against the Real Federación Española de Fútbol (RFEF) as regards a potential competition law infringement committed by the RFEF, consisting of an exclusionary abuse against Mediapro in relation to the marketing of broadcasting rights for the Spanish ‘Copa del Rey and Supercopa’.
